Sumpter Township Country Fest

Does your family crave a little taste of the country? Luckily, there’s no need to head down south this summer because Sumpter Township is bringing the country here to the mitten state May 25-29, 2017 in Belleville.

Throw on your cowboy boots (or tennis shoes will do) for the annual Sumpter Township Country Fest featuring live music, a truck demolition derby (Friday) and autocross demolition derby (Saturday) – plus a good old-fashioned petting zoo.

This down-home extravaganza has plenty of attractions perfect for your little cowboys and cowgirls, including pony rides, inflatables and crafts. The festival also features kid-friendly carnival rides to satisfy your child’s adventurous spirit.

If you’re visiting on Friday, May 26, be sure to stick around for some dazzling fireworks, too. And, on Saturday, May 27, grab a snack and your kiddos for the parade, which marches from the intersection of Sumpter and Judd roads to Dunn Road and starts at noon on Saturday, May 27.

Think your tyke is especially cute? Submit a photo of him or her to the baby contest happening through the weekend-long festival.

Parents can relax and unwind in the beer tent and enjoy live tunes from bands like The Detroit Drive, Denise Davis, Yankee Trash Band and more.

Admission to the festival is free. However, there is a fee for various shows, attractions, carnival rides and food. Reduced prices are available for children 12 and under.

The hours of the festival are as follows:

  • Thursday, May 25: 5 p.m.-close (officials say the carnival will close once the crowd clears for the night)
  • Friday, May 26: 5 p.m.-midnight
  • Saturday, May 27: noon-midnight
  • Sunday, May 28: noon-midnight
  • Monday, May 29: noon-10 p.m.

These hours are based on the unofficial schedule for the 2017 festival and are subject to change, so be sure to check ahead before you go. On the first day of the festival on Thursday, May 25, only the carnival will be open.
