Peter Pan Jr. at The Community House in Birmingham

Peter Pan makes an appearance on this Oakland County stage, Nov. 7-8, 2015, to spread some timeless magic.

The land “where dreams are born, and time is never planned” comes to The Community House’s stage in Birmingham, Nov. 7-8, 2015, where guests can witness the classic tale of the boy (or, in this case, girl) who refuses to grow up. Fly away to Neverland with Peter Pan and the Darling children in an enchanting adaptation of Peter Pan Jr., courtesy of Sara Smith Productions Youth Theatre.

All the imaginative fun takes place in the Wallace Ballroom, complete with handsome white wood framework and crystal chandeliers.

Join the lost boys in their endeavors with a little help from Tinkerbell’s fairy dust and Wendy’s instruction as the rugged band battles pirates and crocodiles, and encounters a friendly tribe of Native Americans proffering sound advice along the way.

The production is performed using original sheet music and exhibits the best actors under the age of 18 in metro Detroit. The play’s youngest viewers can enjoy seeing local talent their own age re-enact a Disney movie favorite. Sing along to original tunes, including “Following the Leader,” “You Can Fly,” “The Second Star to the Right” and “Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Life for Me.”

This adaptation throws in “some new-aged material that makes it fun for everyone, from your younger sister to your grandfather,” says Nevan Schatz, the senior program administrator at TCH.
