The Bollywood Masala Orchestra and Dancers present their new live performance The Spirit of India, Oct. 30, 2015. The show sparks a daring vision in Indian music and dance for the first time.

Join in on a journey that will take you from Rajasthan to Mumbai, India, created by tabla musician and director Rahis Bharti. Sixteen artists (brass band, acoustic musicians, singers, female dancers, acrobats and a fire eater) introduce the authenticity of Indian music. Listen to the sounds of instruments such as the side drums, trombone and clarinet, along with the tabla, dholak and harmonium.

Fascinated with his country’s rich traditions and sounds, Bharti travelled the world working on different Indian projects. With 12 years in music, he presents a concert full of contemporary music with spellbinding rhythms and flamboyant dress.

The shows opens a door between cultures. Learn and experience other traditions and customs, broadening your knowledge and creating acceptance.

Tickets start at $40 and are $20 for students, and are available at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts. The show is at 8 p.m.
