For maximum sun protection, why not try an SPF swimsuit? They offer all-in one-coverage in baby, toddler and kid sizes. Don’t think your tykes will like a body suit? The different styles are sure to win them over. The sun protection swimwear is sleek and safe, are breathable, washable, chlorine resistant – and they dry faster than regular bathing suits. Coolibar sells this adorable reversible hat, which comes in various patterns. The nifty cap blocks a majority of the UVA/UVB rays and features UPF 50-plus protection. Fabric is chlorine and saltwater resistant, which makes it perfect for a day at the pool or beach with baby. A Velcro strap under the chin keeps it secure. Find it online for $28.
If your child isn’t quite up for sporting the full SPF body suit, try sun sleeves. They offer full SPF protection and come in a variety of colors and patterns for boys and girls. They’re recommended for ages 12 months-plus and available at Sunny Sleevez for $12.99-$14.99.
Just because you’re inside the car doesn’t mean the sun’s rays can’t beat through the window, causing sunburn and sun damage. Putting up sun screens on the windows can help protect babies and infants. These boast UPF protection of 30-plus, blocking 97 percent of those harmful UV rays.
