Ashton Drake’s So Sleepy Sophie

It started with a cheap Target-brand doll, followed by a Bitty Baby and endless Baby Alives. Now my daughter’s doll obsession has taken a new turn: super-lifelike babies. Thanks to a couple kid YouTubers, these realistic-looking dolls are all we hear about. Sophie here is the latest and greatest. I have to admit, she’s pretty adorable. But watch out, moms: Holding this soft, weighted doll may induce baby fever. $129.99. ashtondrake.com.

I Like Myself Book

A friend purchased this colorful book for my son’s first birthday, and it’s been a favorite in our house ever since. The whimsical ode to self-esteem sets the stage with the opening line, “I like myself. I’m glad I’m me. There’s no one else I’d rather be,” and the rest is a rollicking journey to teach kids to love themselves from the inside out. The colorful illustrations and playful couplets make for an engaging read – for you and your kids.

Rubber Horse Stall Mat

A horse is a horse, of course. But a horse mat is another animal. When I started the T25 video cardio program, I needed something to absorb the shock of all that Shaun T jumping. So I moseyed to the Tractor Supply Co. and picked up this 4-by-6-foot mat for horse stalls. Well, I had help: It’s like 80 pounds! But, once in place, this 3/4-inch-thick mat gets the job done and, crucially, stays put. At $35, it’s a steal – and no sweat to buy more to cover a bigger space. tractorsupply.com.

LeapFrog Gaming

I needed a way to keep my daughter’s little hands off my Xbox One. Solution: A $45 video gaming system that’s kid friendly with a get-up-and-move directive – she has to jump and dance to stretch her math, science and reading skills. A year later, she still adores her LeapFrog LeapTV. While it’s now hard to find, you can still grab loads of similar products, geared at ages 3-8, on their website at leapfrog.com.

Hyland’s Calendula Ointment

It heals minor cuts, scrapes and rashes – including diaper rash – so quickly. I have used Hyland’s Calendula on both of my children since they were born. The absolute best ointment for diaper rash or redness, hands down. Also works well on their dry little noses after wiping and sniffling all winter! A 3.5-ounce container is about $15 on Amazon.
