Homelessness in Michigan impacts thousands across the entire state, which also means many families right here in southeast Michigan. Those experiencing homelessness have access to Michigan homeless resources through the state’s Housing Assessment and Resource Agencies, otherwise known as HARA. These hubs can assist in finding resources for homeless families and individuals, such as homeless shelters in Michigan and housing help for homeless families.
While there are many shelters and agencies locally and throughout Michigan that can connect families to a local HARA and homeless resources, families should know they can reach out directly to a HARA site nearest them to begin receiving help. These agencies will collect information about each family’s needs and connect them to the appropriate services.
If you or somebody you know is experiencing homelessness in southeast Michigan, encourage them to contact their local HARA hub. Below, find local HARA contacts, or browse the entire list here.
