A World Class Education in Wayne County

With six campuses across metro Detroit, Wayne County Community College District offers a wide variety of degree programs and certifications to help students achieve their professional dreams.

Are you looking to take your education to the next level but aren’t quite sure that traditional university is right for you?

Community college is the perfect option for the busy parent, lifelong learners or recently graduated high school students that want to get a college education close to home and without the high cost of traditional four-year colleges.

And if you’re in or near Wayne County, there’s sure to be an option that fits your needs because Wayne County Community College District offers six campuses across the county – in industrial, rural and metropolitan areas – to offer all local residents a quality higher education right in their own backyards.

Top-notch student life

On these campuses, which are located in Detroit, Belleville, Harper Woods and Taylor, students can expect to find courses – including those in accounting, science, art, computer information systems and many others – to help the student on their way to achieving their end goal: a college degree or professional certification.

“We have almost 100 degree and certification programs across our campuses,” says Dr. Curtis Ivery, CEO and Chancellor of WCCCD. “Our goal is to offer options for today’s students to find their dream, improve their economic prospects and make a difference in our region.”

Students at Wayne County Community College District can also take advantage of expanded American studies programming and fast-track courses to help jumpstart their educational path – plus technology upgrades to make learning easier and much more.

This higher learning commission-accredited district also boasts a proactive student services department, so that students can get help with the registration and financial aid processes before the semester starts. Academic advising and grade monitoring during the semester helps hold them accountable and on target to reach their educational goals.

“Navigating the college experience isn’t always easy, so we want to do everything we can to make sure our students have the resources and guidance they need to throughout their education with us,” says Ivery. “We are successful when they are successful. It’s that simple.”

But helping students become successful isn’t just about getting that degree or certification – it’s about expanding their minds. WCCCD hosts national conferences that address serious educational and social topics like how you can help respond to the crisis in urban America and what leaders can do about the U.S. criminal justice system; special initiatives that students can get involved in; and community events including the I Love My Baby Expo, the Your Child’s Conference and the Career Crusade.

“I’m particularly proud of our Study Abroad program,” says Ivery. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore the world beyond the classroom by traveling to other countries to learn.”

Getting enrolled

Sound like it may be the right college fit for you? Enrollment is a snap and is totally affordable in comparison to other colleges in the area. Plus, it’s totally inclusive and is open to anyone seeking higher education in and around Wayne County.
