Now that your kid has grown to be a full-fledged tween, they’ll be entering the world of middle school. Those transitional years are significant in prepping kids for what’s next: high school. But where are the top public middle schools in metro Detroit and Ann Arbor?

The most recent school information comes from Niche, which released its grades for public middle schools in Michigan.

We combed through the data, which was compiled with statistics from the U.S. Department of Education, plus self-reported data from individual schools. Schools were then graded in three areas: academics, teachers and diversity.

Here, we’ve examined the top 100 public middle schools in Michigan, pulling out the top metro Detroit and Ann Arbor schools among them that scored grades of A+, A and A-. Schools are listed in alphabetical order under each county.

In case you’re wondering, the No. 1 middle school in Michigan belongs to Boulan Park Middle School in Troy, at least according to Niche.
