Best Ballet Classes for Kids in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor

Besides the opportunity to gracefully dance in a tutu, allow your child to build their flexibility and muscles while learning the art of ballet at one of these ballet classes for kids.

If so, here you’ll find a list of several ballet classes for kids in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties where your child can unleash their talent while learning from the pros. Enroll your children in one of the dance classes below to let them learn the basics and key components of ballet.

2nd Street Studio of Dance

Dancers will learn grace, poise, coordination and flexibility in ballet classes here. Ballet 1 is open for ages 7-plus, while Ballet 2 is open to ages 9-plus. Classes such as Ballet 3, Ballet 4 and more are also available for certain ages and skill levels. Outside of ballet, there are also classes for tap, jazz and hip hop.

Kids as young as three can try out this spots creative movement course to get the taste of dance. As they grow, they can try out other types of classes including tap, modern, ballet and jazz.

Ballet Chelsea

Your children can receive professional-level training in ballet as well as other forms of dance. The school offers ballet classes during the summer. Options include creative ballet for ages 3-4, pre-ballet for ages 4-5, beginning ballet ages 5-6 and more.

Founded in 1997, Ballet Renaissance has offices in Detroit and the state of Colorado. Children will learn the art of classical ballet and feel inspired. The students will have the opportunity to perform twice annually as well as throughout the community.

Bravo Dance Center

Dancetera Dance Studio

Since opening in 1991 in Roseville, Dancetera – unlike several other studios – is not a competition studio. Instead, it’s meant to provide an enjoyable atmosphere with more of an emphasis on extracurricular activity than competition. Classes are held Monday-Thursday with faculty experienced in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and more.

Eisenhower Dance Center

In pre-ballet, your tot will get an introduction to basic ballet techniques and will get a hand in improving their motor and coordination skills. After that, they will advance to ballet where they will focus on the classical Russian technique. Students can also choose from other classes like tap, jazz, lyrical and hip hop.

Students as young as 2.5 can start creative movement with ballet and tap. As they get older, they can take more classes to enhance their ballet skills. There are also tap, hip hop and other dance styles offered.
