Schmidt's Antiques is pleased to announce a public presentation and sale of works by area artist Leon Makielski (1885-1974). Starting with an open reception on Friday, May 3, Schmidt’s Michigan Art Gallery will feature a preview of the collection from 4-8 p.m.
The public sale and exhibition will commence Saturday, May 4, from 9-5 p.m. and will continue each Saturday through the end of the month, or by appointment. The selection of over fifty works predominantly features Midwestern landscapes and cityscapes, showcasing numerous images of Ann Arbor, as well as portraits including his notable depiction of bridge builder Ralph Modjeski and perhaps one of his most famous portraits, Mrs. Penelope Peterson. Schmidt’s is proud to represent the heirs of this eminent American artist with such close ties to the great state of Michigan and the Ann Arbor area.
