Description
Ailey Experience Detroit gives dancers ages 8 through adult the chance to train with professional Ailey instructors and former Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performers. Students learn Horton, hip hop and Ailey repertory while exploring the history of Alvin Ailey’s signature style. No audition or prior dance experience is required, and participants ages 11-21 who attend both days can enter to win a summer scholarship in New York City.
Event cost: Single day $40 ages 8-10, $75 ages 11-adult. Full weekend $75 ages 8-10, $120 ages 11-adult.
Event times: Feb. 21-22. Daily schedule varies by age group.
