Black Santa Photo Experience

Santa waving from his chair at Black Santa event

About the event

About 2,000 people — children and their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles — visited the Southfield Pavilion Dec. 15-16  for a unique photo with a very special Santa Claus at the fourth annual Black Santa Photo Experience.

This free annual event is presented by Metro Parent’s sister magazine, BLAC Detroit, and aims to celebrate diversity by bringing local kids together with a black Santa, to tell him what they want for Christmas and to even snap a photo with him.

If you attended, thank you! Please take a brief survey to tell us about your experience.

Book donation

Because of the generosity of attendees, 240 children’s books were donated. They will go to two schools: Ronald Brown Academy and Duke Ellington Conservatory of Music and Art, two PreK to eighth grade schools located on the east side of Detroit.
