Journey to Freedom – Underground Railroad in Washtenaw County with the Canton Public Library
Description
The Underground Railroad was a network of secret routes, hidden places, determined citizens and self-liberated people of color seeking freedom. Two essential routes to Detroit – and ultimate safety in Canada – crossed in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Deborah Meadows, Program Chair from the African American Cultural and Historical Museum of Washtenaw County, will take listeners on a virtual tour of nationally-known Underground Railroad landmarks, historic sites, cemeteries, buildings and homes. Registration is required at least 24 hours in advance for Zoom link.
