Description
The Stomp Out Sarcoma Fun Run/5K race on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Hudson Mills Metropark goes to benefit Sarcoma Research at Rogel Cancer Center!
This event is all about bringing community members together with doctors, patients, nurses, physician assistants, patients’ family members, nurse practitioners and researchers outside the hospital and unite them in one cause: fighting sarcoma.
Sarcoma is a rare connective tissue malignancy (cancer) that affects people of all ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, races and ethnicities. Sarcomas make up about one percent of all adult cancers. Due to this rarity, patients often feel isolated after being diagnosed and throughout treatment. Stomp Out Sarcoma was started by a group of health care providers in the Sarcoma Clinic at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center to raise awareness about this rare disease and to provide support to patients, families, caregivers and friends affected by sarcoma.
All proceeds from the fun run/walk will go to the Sarcoma Clinical Research Fund at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, to help researchers and clinicians better understand this disease and find more effective treatments.
When you sign up to participate in the Run/Walk, form a team and raise money, you are raising awareness for this rare disease and supporting the critical research and clinical care done at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center.
