Living Arts, which was founded in 1999, brings high-quality arts education to youth, equipping them with the tools needed to succeed in school and in life. Led by professional teaching artists, our Out-of-School Arts program provides a wide variety of art classes in dance, music, visual art, and video animation for ages 3 to 18 years during the school year and summer months.
Additionally, through our Detroit Wolf Trap program, we offer early arts education to children ages 3 months to 6 years. These early education programs prepare our students for school by strengthening their emerging literacy, math, science and social-emotional skills. Parents and caregivers come away from our early education classes with a toolkit of skills to continue the learning at home. Our Detroit Wolf Trap program is a national affiliate for the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts. All classes are held at the Ford Resource & Engagement Center in Southwest Detroit (located at 2826 Bagley St., Detroit).
Living Arts also provides arts-integrated education residencies at schools and Head Starts throughout the city.
