Fun Camps for Kids During Holiday Break in Grand Rapids

These fun camps for kids in the Grand Rapids area additional excitement during the holiday break.

The holiday break is a great time for kids to enjoy some much-needed time away from school and homework. But after the fun-filled days of celebrating the holidays are over, most kids still have some time off before school resumes.

If that won’t work for your work schedule – or if your kids just need an outlet for all that energy – consider one of these day camps in the area offered during the holiday break. In Grand Rapids and beyond, there are plenty of fun camps for kids with educational options to fill the void. You can also consider checking out one of these local holiday shows.

Keep in mind that for Grand Rapids Public Schools, the holiday break extends from Dec. 23, 2017 until Jan. 2, 2018. Each camp features varying schedules, pricing and registration requirements, so be sure to call in advance before making your plans.

Kids ages 5-12 can join in for crafts, games and other active fun Dec. 26-29. Morning, afternoon and all-day camps are offered starting at $35 per child.

Howard Christensen Nature Center

Winter Break Camp at this nature center is offered 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 27-29 for $8 per child per day or $20 for all three days. Participants will enjoy hikes, crafts, games and interactive educational programs.

John Ball Zoo

It’s day camp at the zoo! Head here for full-day camps with varying educational themes, including winter habitats and migrators. This camp is open to students in kindergarten through fifth grade and available Dec. 27-28 and Jan. 3-5. Pricing is $50/members and $55/nonmembers per day.

Kroc Center

Head to the Kroc Center for School’s Out Day Camps offered Dec. 26-29 and Jan. 2-5. Kids can participate in swimming, arts and crafts, games, music, rock climbing and more. Time and pricing varies.

This local sports center offers a Holiday Mini Camp for ages 3-6 including swimming, games, crafts, music and more. Holiday Sports Camp is for ages 6-11 and Ultimate Babysitter’s Camp is for ages 11-15. Dates and pricing vary.
