The Montessori Programs:
Toddler: (Starting at 18 months)
A Montessori program is carefully planned for this age group and built around the child’s needs for emotional and psychological nurturing. The environment allows the children to explore the different materials provided and gives them the ability to choose and work at their own pace. At this age the children also learn about order, independence, language, and physical safety. This program offers a calm atmosphere of special understanding, respect, and support.
In the preschool classroom, the children learn concepts by working in individual or small/large groups with the different Montessori materials. The materials and curriculum focus on Practical Life (daily living,) Sensorial, Language, Math, Geography, Science, Art, Music, Spanish, and Computers. The children interact continuously, choosing to work on projects together, where the older children help to teach the younger ones. The classroom is designed to stimulate the child’s interest and improve their understanding and learning capabilities. The children have the freedom to explore concepts at their own pace from simple activities to more complex ones. Through this learning, they develop their sense of pride in their “work,” a feeling of confidence. There is a feel of respect, love, and cooperation among each other.
