Wish you could find the perfect summer camp for your kid? How about something that’s super-fun and creative, beats the dreaded summer “brain drain” and doesn’t cost you a penny? Oh, and did we mention you don’t even have to leave the house?

That’s just what you’ll find at our Virtual Camp: Summer of Science! Metro Parent and Michigan Science Center in Detroit joined forces for a fourth year to bring kids ages 7-13 a FREE video series of six amazing DIY science projects they can try right at home – plus a companion guide with instructions and more fun stuff to do. There’s also a quiz to test kids’ smarts at the end.

Best buds Taylor and Izzy – Metro Parent’s peppy puppet who loves learning about science – team up to learn about astronomy, chemistry, electricity and more with the STEAM geniuses over at MiSci. Get an overview of the season in the official Virtual Camp: Summer of Science 2019 trailer:

After all, science and summer go together like peanut butter and jelly. There’s so much to explore, and vacation gives kids the perfect excuse (and plenty of time) to experiment with the everyday science that’s all around them. Here’s what kids enjoy in Virtual Camp:

  1. Fun experiments. During the summer of 2019, we dropped six fun videos that demonstrate an experiment you and your kiddos can do at home with basic supplies. Beginning July 7, new episodes were released every Sunday for six straight weeks.
  2. Bonus learning. Each lesson page gives kids a FREE downloadable PDF guide that breaks down the experiment and lets you see the science behind it. It’s also filled with extra resources that bring that concept to life, including trivia, websites, books, toys, games and awesome Michigan Science Center exhibits.
  3. A quiz. Each lesson ends with fun questions focused on what kids discovered.
  4. Insta fame. Having a blast with Virtual Camp? Post a pic of your kids enjoying it on Instagram using the hashtag #MPcamp. We’ll be reposting them throughout the series.

Fill out the form below to register for all the fun any time. Episodes dropped every Sunday from July 7 till Aug. 11, 2019 – but you can join in any time you’d like!
