Say cheese! This task proved to be a total cakewalk for Metro Parent’s grand-prize CoverKid winner for 2015. Carter of Dearborn Heights, who’s almost 4, is a cool little dude with character to spare. He was a natural choice.
This tyke took the spotlight on the cover of the June 2015 issue of Metro Parent. Carter illustrated our leading story about kids decorating their own rooms – why it’s an important way for them to try new things and let their personalities shine.
Speaking of sparkling personalities: That definitely sums up Carter. He impressed our design team with his wit, self-assuredness and smarts. And, as our top winner, he scored a $1,529 Michigan Education Savings Plan college savings account to help ensure his future is just as bright.
Why not get to know him a bit better? You’ll discover his super running powers, favorite food – and his sure-to-make-you-grin sense of humor.
For a third year, Metro Parent teamed up with MESP (that’s the Michigan Education Savings Plan) to host our CoverKids contest – and invest in local kids’ futures. Think of MESP a Roth IRA, only for your child’s college. The money you put in it is tax-free, thanks to its federal “529” status. You can start one up with just $25, and contribute as little as $15 per pay period. There’s no limit to how much you add annually, though the max account balance is $235,000. Your kid can ultimately use the cash for tuition, room and board, and other college costs.
