With a twirl, a whirl and a hop, our CoverKid Sereen, 6, of Canton definitely gave the cover of the July 2015 edition of Metro Parent some pep! And that’s just as it should be. After all, our major story is all about fun places to host kids birthdays – and, with her winning grin and super goofy jokes, Seeren is definitely the life of the party.
She donned a cute crown “party hat” to kick off our guide to cool outdoor venues in southeast Michigan where you can host a kids birthday party. We also got the behind-the-scenes scoop on this Wayne County kid, from her summer plans to her favorite things to do with her mom and dad (her thoughts on whether adults are ticklish are guaranteed to make you smile). Check out a few outtakes and her behind-the-scenes commentary in our CoverKids video:
For a third year, Metro Parent teamed up with MESP (that’s the Michigan Education Savings Plan) to host our CoverKids contest – and invest in local kids’ futures. Think of MESP as a Roth IRA, only for your child’s college. The money you put in it is tax-free, thanks to its federal “529” status. You can start one up with just $25, and contribute as little as $15 per pay period. There’s no limit to how much you add annually, though the max account balance is $235,000. Your kid can ultimately use the cash for tuition, room and board, and other college costs.
