My Local Pregnancy Food Cravings

From Big Boy to Blake's Orchard, check out the places – and dishes – that help local moms indulge their pregnancy cravings.

When morning sickness isn’t causing them to hug the porcelain throne, moms-to-be have a serious case of the munchies. And how can you blame them? Right here in Michigan we’ve got Coneys, custard and tons of crave-worthy local eateries. What are local moms-to-be craving right now? We asked them to weigh in on what’s No. 1 on their menu.

“Banana cream pie from Big Boy and pierogi from Jennie’s Pierogies in Warren.” – Jennifer Kennaugh, Shelby Township

“Erma’s Frozen Custard. I made my husband take me weekly since the flavors rotate!” – Devon Krisher, Warren

“Hungry Howie’s pepperoni pizza with garlic and herb crust. Literally ordered a large pizza every other day for three months – my college roommates can vouch for me!” – Courtney Lindsay, Milford

“I delivered both babies in the fall. I craved Blake’s cider mill doughnuts (in Armada)! Now both kids are obsessed, too. We live near Romeo and eat them almost year-round. I think I may have turned into one of those warm, sugary, cinnamon doughnuts while preggo!” – Jody Owens, Macomb Township

“Mango sorbet from Bloomberry frozen yogurt shop (in Royal Oak).” – Alexis Allen Giera, Lake Orion

“Spinach artichoke dip from Great Baraboo Brewing Company in Clinton Township.” – Andrea Nunn-Mencavage, Lexington

“Vince and Joe’s Gourmet Market’s fruit tart.” – Teresa Kavanaugh, Washington Township

“Chili fries from National Coney Island.” – Emma Wagner-Distelrath, St. Clair Shores

“Onion rings from Thee Office Pub & Cookery in Romeo dipped in their homemade ranch.” – Meagan Poznanski, Romeo

“Faygo Rock N’ Rye.” – Nicole Files, Southgate
