As the mom of twin 13-month-old girls, Hannah Pagel got the surprise of her life when she learned she was pregnant with baby number three. Pagel and her husband Eric had gone through IVF to conceive their twin daughters, but little sister Lucie was conceived with no medical intervention. Now, with three little girls 2 and under, the Pagels are busier than ever – and loving it.
Favorite maternity clothes store: Destination Maternity at Somerset Collection in Troy, Target and H&M at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills.
Labor and delivery experience: When I delivered the twins, it was an emergency (C-section) surgery, so it felt like I was being jostled around on the operating table. However, this time was gentle and not scary. Lucie arrived at 11:51 a.m. and let out a big cry. It was a beautiful sound to hear.
Hospital stay prep list: Comfy pj’s/robe, toiletries, pillow.
Best part of being a new parent: I really enjoy the newborn stage because of all the cuddles.
Hardest part of being a new parent: Trying to show Abbie and Emilie that I still love them just as much as I did before Lucie was born and that they don’t need to be jealous.
Favorite baby gift: Newborn Rock ’n Play Sleeper by Fisher-Price. It’s so helpful and doesn’t take up a lot of space.
Best advice you’ve received: Train your children to enjoy being in a playpen from a young age.
Advice you’d share: Be intentional about communicating with your spouse as much as possible.
Best part of raising a family in Berkley: Berkley has a small town feel to it. We enjoy the events that the city organizes, and we couldn’t ask for better neighbors.
Dream for your child: My hope for our daughters is that they will grow up to be strong Christian women, that they will have loving and honorable husbands and that, together, they will pass on a godly legacy to their children and grandchildren.
More about Hannah Pagel
Age: 32
Husband: Eric Pagel
Gig: Stay-at-home mom and freelance graphic designer
Latest addition: Lucie Hannah Grace, born May 9, 2015
Other children: Abbie Hannah Maria and Emilie Hannah May, both 2
Baby name background: I really wanted another name ending in “ie” to match her sisters’ names. For her middle names, we chose Hannah because Hannah in the Bible was unable to have children so she prayed and asked God for a baby. He blessed her with a son. We chose Grace for her other middle name because God showed us grace.
Hospital/birthing center: Beaumont Health System in Royal Oak
OB-GYN: Kathleen Huston, MD, Generations OB-GYN, Birmingham
