Don’t tell Sarah Radcliffe, an expectant mom of twins, she can’t “have it all.” Already mom to 20-month old Annabelle, Radcliffe works full time and loves it.
“I still plan on having a successful career, three kids, two dogs, a household to take care of and, yes, a small social life,” she says. “It’s important to still have personal goals and be an example to your children that you can achieve those goals.”
Hospital bag ‘must’: ChapStick – hospitals are so dry!
Favorite baby gift: Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play. I actually just purchased four of them for the twins (two for our bedroom and two for our downstairs). They are amazing!
Tips for the early weeks: Just take it one day at a time. Having a newborn can be overwhelming but they really grow up so fast.
Hardest part of being a new parent: Before becoming a parent, you had some control over your days. I have learned to go with the flow a little more.
Best part of being a new parent: My evenings. We have family time every night all together from dinnertime until bedtime. We have a no cell phone rule during this time.
Best part of raising a family in Canton: I have found several amazing support groups for moms. MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) at NorthRidge Church is amazing, along with several online mom groups. I think it’s so important to come together as moms and support one another. We also love our church family at Solid Rock in Plymouth.
Dream for your children: That they will be happy and healthy productive members of society and that they love God with everything they do and make a positive impact on this world.
Special perspective: Motherhood is the toughest, most rewarding, greatest adventure you will ever be on. There will be days you’re not sure why you ever became a mom, but many more days you wouldn’t change it for the world.
