Godlan, Inc. in Clinton Township Wins Work-Life Balance Award

Godlan, Inc. in Clinton Township was recently honored by the Macomb Business Awards for the work they do to help their employees find work-life balance

Having an employer that values work-life balance is a big deal for busy parents. To celebrate these companies, the annual Macomb Business Awards launched its first-ever “Champion of Work-Life Integration” award in April – and Metro Parent sponsored it.

The winner? Godlan, Inc. in Clinton Township, a 60-person performance-consulting firm that helps manufacturers implement software. It was recognized for its dedication to employee success.

“Godlan wants to establish a culture that attracts, challenges, gratifies, rewards and retains employees,” says Bobby Rudder, Godlan’s vice president of marketing and communications.

And that’s just what the company does – by carrying out its mission of “equipping and empowering outstanding people to produce outstanding results.”

Godlan was one of six winners at this annual awards ceremony, which held its seventh annual ceremony at the Sterling Inn in late April 2019.

Read on for more about this first-time “Champion of Work-Life Integration” winner – and to learn about the Macomb Business Awards.

Godlan’s dedication

Godlan, Inc is all about equipping employees with the tools they need to succeed. And part of Godlan’s success rests on its dedication to each person’s well-being.

“Godlan is committed to quality of life for employees and has been adding benefits over the years in order to continuously improve on this commitment,” Rudder says.

These benefits include flexible work schedules and the ability to work from home, which is the case for about 70 percent of Godlan’s employees, Rudder says. It also has a confidential employee assistance program that provides free counseling, legal and financial consulting, training resources and even a personal assistant that can help employees research their next vacation.

Another one of its secrets to success: positivity and praise.

“Godlan has an employee award and recognition program that not only rewards high achievers, but also recognizes and rewards employees who exemplify Godlan’s core values each year.”

The Macomb Business Awards

Godlan was among dozens of outstanding organizations receiving accolades this year.

The Macomb Business Awards welcomed 400 guests to its annual breakfast and awards ceremony. It honors Macomb County businesses and organizations for their hard work in achieving success in categories such as corporate citizenship, manufacturing, trailblazing future talent and more.

To be considered, businesses and organizations were asked to complete an online form with a statement about their company, along with a 300-word summary about how the company achieves its success in one of the six categories.

A panel of judges then reviews and scores each nomination on a scale of one to five based on a list of criteria. In 2019, the judges reviewed an all-time high of 71 nominations, and these six businesses received top honors:

  1. Champion of Work-Life Integration: Godlan, Inc.
  2. Trailblazer of Future Talent: L&L Products
  3. Corporate Citizenship: CARE of Southeastern Michigan
  4. Model of OneMacomb: PACE Southeastern Michigan
  5. Hidden Gem: Great Lakes Pickling Company
  6. Manufacturer of the Year: Drake Enterprises

In addition, the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) received the Macomb County Economic Development Partner of the Year award, while Glenn Wynn, the director of the Shelby Township Planning and Zoning Department and Grace Shore, the former CEO of the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce, received the honor of Beacons of Economic Development.

Each business is dedicated to Macomb County and its communities.
