My Mantra: You Have to Persist Longer Than They Resist

Erika Ciavattone's mantra, you have to persist longer than they resist, applies to all of the challenges of parenting and the resilience parents have.

This mantra applies to so many challenges we face as parents. When an overly-tired child is refusing to go to sleep or when you are trying to introduce a new food, kids will fight you on it. You have to try harder to get them to do something than they try to not do it and eventually you will get the desired outcome.

It may seem easy at first to just give in to whatever the child wants or doesn’t want to do, but you will regret it in the long run.

We have persisted in getting our daughter to try different foods and it has paid off because now she eats so many foods and some are ones that even my husband and I don’t like!

Persist longer than they resist.
