Winter and Holiday Break Day Camps for Kids in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor

Holiday break is approaching fast. While most kids look forward to a couple weeks with no homework, the time off can be tricky for parents who still need to go about their regular work routines between the holidays.

If you need child care during the break – or maybe just want your kids to beat cabin fever – there are fortunately plenty of local places gearing up for some super-fun day camps to help keep kids occupied.

Here are some of the holiday break day camps for 2019-20 we found happening in metro Detroit and beyond.

Ann Arbor Art Center

This two-day holiday break Creativity Camp with a “Wizardry” theme is held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 2-3, 2020. Kids ages 5-12 will have fun designing a special keepsake box, artwork out of textiles and toys to take home. Camp is priced at $146. Pre- and post-camp care is also available for an additional fee.

Beverly Hills Club

Kids ages 5-plus are welcome to take part in fun, safe and supervised camps offering swimming, sports, games, crafts and more. Winter break camp offered during snow days and mid-winter break camps offered Feb. 17-21, 2020.  Camp costs start at $55 for a half day, $68 for a full and varies based on number of days attending.

Franklin Athletic Club

The Winter Break Camp is offered 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 20, 23, 26-27 and 30 and Jan. 2-3 features swimming, sports, games and more for kids ages 3-12. Plus, a Tiny Tot Camp for ages 2-3. Regular camp runs $70-85 a day. Pre- and post-camp care is available for $12 a day.

Farmington Hills Costick Center

This winter day camp includes games, arts and crafts, swimming and special activities for ages 6-12. Offered 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 17-18, 2020. Cost is $55 for residents, $65  for non-residents. Extended care also available.

FlipSpot Gym

Holiday break “Holiday Happenings” ninja camp is offered 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 29, 2019 and Jan. 2-3, 2020. Get your students in for just $35 if you register in advance. Add $5 for late registration. Open gym options, too.

Joe Dumars Fieldhouse

During the holidays, kids in grades 1-8 enjoy basketball camp and those in grades 6-9 try volleyball camp. Dates to be determined. $90/two-day camp, $138/three-day camp.

Leslie Science & Nature Center

Days Off Outdoors camps during the break include Mammal Madness on Dec. 30, Trails and Tales on Jan. 3, Winter Survival on Jan. 2. Options in February, April and May, too. Good for grades K-5. Runs 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and costs $70 per child.

Troy Gymnastics

Winter holiday break camps featuring gymnastics, trampolines and other fun activities are offered Dec. 23, 26-28, 30, 2019 and Jan. 2-3, 2020. Half days available for ages 3-12 and full days available for ages 4-12. Pricing is $30 per half day and $60 per full day. Must provide a change of clothes, snacks and lunch.
