Blue Cross Looking for Kids' Healthy Videos

Grab your cameras, kids – Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan needs your help!

They’re hosting a video contest asking for ideas on how to live a healthy lifestyle. Kids in grades four-eight can show off their health savvy in a brief video, answering the question, “What would you do to make Michigan healthier?”

The winner of the “Make the Play” for a healthier Michigan video contest gets a chance to be the featured kids’ vlogger (video blogger) on the BCBSM website, AHealthierMichigan.org. Plus, the winner’s school will get a special assembly with Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford (who better to share tips on staying fit and healthy?). Runners-up will also receive prize packages.

Don’t be afraid to get creative, event coordinator Shannon Paul said; the contest isn’t intended only for athletes. Do you walk the dog every day? Always put fruit on your cereal? BCBSM wants to know your healthy habits.

“We’re looking to be surprised,” Paul said, adding that a winning video would be entertaining as well as informative.

You won’t need fancy gear to tackle this project – videos can be filmed with a smart phone, iPad or a webcam. But keep it short and sweet; submissions should be two minutes or less.

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. on March 25. Finalists will be posted April 6 on the BCBSM website, where the winning video will be chosen by a public vote.
