Drive-In Movies Near Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor

Missing date night at your favorite theater? Get a retro movie-going experience at one of these drive-in movies in southeast Michigan and beyond.

Date night just doesn’t feel the same when you’re having take-out on the couch week after week. Sure, the time with your sweetie is nice and all but don’t you wish you could go out and see a movie again?

While movie theaters aren’t open in Michigan just yet, you can still get a pretty cool retro movie-going experience at a drive-in.

There are some pretty cool drive-in experiences in metro Detroit and Ann Arbor for the whole family — or just you and your bae, if you need a little time away from the kids.

Check out the list to find out what’s playing, grab some concessions and enjoy a movie night!

Downriver Drive-In

  • Address: Crystal Gardens Parking Lot, 16703 Fort St., Southgate
  • Cost: $20/car

The spring, summer and fall months are packed with kid-friendly flicks and adult shows, too. Check on Facebook to see what’s happening lately.

Ford Drive-In

  • Address: 10400 Ford Road, Dearborn
  • Cost: $12/adult, $5/kids under 12, free/kids under 5

This Dearborn spot is back in business at half capacity and is offering both adult and kid flicks, alike. Now playing movies such as Don’t Tell A Soul (R) and Smiley Face Killers (R) for adults. Plus Wonder Woman 1984 (PG13) and Always and Forever (PG13) for younger audiences.

Macomb County Drive-In Movies

  • Address: Freedom Hill County Park, 15000 Metro Parkway, Sterling Heights
  • Cost: $25/car

This spot returns in mid-May with a series of outdoor movies every weekend. Past flicks include Hocus Pocus, The Conjuring and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Check back in the spring for the latest line-up.

Monroe Street Drive-In

  • Address: 32 Monroe St., Detroit
  • Cost: $20/car

Bedrock Detroit and Emagine Entertainment have teamed up on this experience in downtown Detroit. On-site concessions is available and outside food is welcome. Pre-purchased tickets are strongly encouraged. Currently playing: Jurassic Park (PG13)

Movie Magic at Lakeside Mall

  • Address: Old Sears parking lot, Lakeside Mall, 14000 Lakeside Circle, Sterling Heights
  • Cost: $25/car

A summertime event during COVID has turned into a permanent drive-in movie theater. Swing by in January for kid movies such as Shrek (PG) or Secret Life of Pets (PG). Plus Transformers (PG-13), Wonder Woman 1984 (PG-13) and Grease (PG). Online ticket purchases required.

Summer Drive-In at USA Hockey Arena

  • Address: USA Hockey Arena, 14900 Beck Road, Plymouth
  • Cost: $10/adults, $8/kids

Swing by in the summer months for family-friendly offerings.

The 15 Mile Drive-In Theater

  • Address: 6600 W. Maple Road, West Bloomfield
  • Cost: $10/adults, $8/kids

Fleece and Thank You, Friendship Circle and the Jewish Community Center have teamed up to offer drive-in flicks on a giant, 55-foot pop-up screen. Past movies included Bohemian Rhapsody and Jurassic Park. Check Facebook for more shows in the spring, summer and fall.
