Virtual Children’s Musical to Raise Funds for Kids Without Computer Access

This first of its kind virtual children's musical aims to help the 5000-plus schools in need of financial aid to support virtual learning during the 2020 school year.

An uplifting children’s musical will debut via Zoom – a first of its kind in the industry – to raise funds to help 11 million at-risk kids without computer access during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The musical, Jean & the Wonderful Idea Machine, was created by Jenn August — a motivational speaker, author and songwriter. It tells the story of a girl named Jean who invents a machine that changes worried thoughts to wonderful ideas.

Word of the invention earns her an invitation to the world peace summit to help solve global problems.

Eighty percent of the proceeds of each ticket purchased will benefit Donors Choose, an organization that helps classrooms in need. Currently there are more than 5,000 schools asking for computers and tablets needed urgently for distance learning.

Tickets to the 50-minute musical cost $20 per streaming device, to keep it as accessible as possible. The streamed performances take place on Zoom on the following dates and times:

  • Sept. 19 at 4 pm Eastern
  • Sept. 20 at 4 pm Eastern
  • Sept. 26 at 4 pm Eastern
  • Sept. 27 at 4 pm Eastern

Tickets can be purchased at thewonderfulideamachine.com. The musical stars actors from across the United States.
