Bloomfield Township Mom Kicks Son's Cake at Kroger

Batman v. Superman is no match for one Bloomfield Township mom. The woman was recently so dissatisfied with the way her local Kroger decorated her son’s Batman v. Superman birthday cake that she drop kicked it in the store’s bakery section.

No, I’m not making this up. According to the Bloomfield-Bloomfield Hills Patch, the woman – who claimed the bakery ruined her 7-year-old son’s cake – was trying to step behind the bakery counter to fix the cake herself.

This, according to police reports, is when mom unleashed her own superpower: taking the cake to the front of the counter and drop kicking it.

“The action caused pieces of cake and frosting to be strewn about the bakery section of the store. The woman quickly left the store, kicking over a wet floor sign on her way out,” Bloomfield police Det. Sgt. John Weise said in a police report, according to Bloomfield-Bloomfield Hills Patch.

Because the cake was a custom order, the police were able to track this local woman down. She claims the cake slipped from her hands.

An onlooker has another story, the local Patch reports.

“Weise said the witness told police the disgruntled woman didn’t actually kick the cake, rather she ‘threw the cake to the ground, stepped on it several times and yelled ‘they f***ing ruined my 7-year-old’s birthday cake'” before storming out of the store.”

In some ways, the vision of someone drop kicking a birthday cake is hilarious. This was a grown woman having a temper tantrum in the middle of a local Kroger. Picture this happening and try not to laugh.

On the flip side, it’s hard not to be disgusted by her behavior. Maybe the cake wasn’t to her standards. Maybe she’s stressed planning her son’s birthday. Does that give her an excuse to freak out on the people at Kroger? And while I’m sure Kroger’s cakes taste great, if she wanted a complicated custom cake like that, perhaps she should have visited one of the many bakeries and cake shops in the area who may specialize in a custom cake creation.

What do you think of this local incident? Did things go too far?
