Las Vegas Strip Club Recruits High School Graduates

College tuition is expensive. In fact, CollegeData.com notes that the average cost for the 2014-2015 year was $23,410 for in-state public college and $46,272 for private college. That’s quite the hefty price tag!

So, if your daughter who just graduated from high school (and was already 18) was looking to make some extra cash to put herself through school, she might consider the offer of a Las Vegas strip club to “pay your way through college.”

Really, you ask? Yes, really.

WXYZ reports that Little Darlings strip club in Las Vegas is looking to recruit graduates to strip down and work the pole for cash.

“It fits in with Vegas. Vegas is always going to be Vegas,” Little Darlings manager Rick Marzullo tells Fox 5 Vegas.

The club, he says, “is always looking for entertainers, and with the cost of tuition continuing to rise, more and more women are turning to stripping to foot the bill. Girls can make up to $1,000 per night,” he tells the local news station.

The idea isn’t terrible, right? Paying cash is easier than taking out student loans.

The response to this story has been mixed.

Fox 5 Vegas commenter Howard Hendrickson writes, “I personally think there is nothing wrong with this. These women are adults and can make their own decisions. There is nothing wrong with stripping as a profession, whether temporary or long term. The pay is excellent, and many women go on to college and end up going back to stripping because it pays more than their major ever will. Stop shaming women who strip.”

Chrysanteum Love, on the other hand, feels there are alternatives to stripping and urges women to fill out a FAFSA form instead. Plus, she says, “Also, if you are planning to go to college, and you hope to work at a decent company, your history as a stripper will ruin your chance to even apply for that position. Your employer will do a background check on you. Don’t ruin your life by making this mistake.”

Both of these commenters have solid points. Your decisions at 18 could, in fact, ruin the rest of your life. But at the same time, who are we to shame strippers? If stripping is something that a woman wants to do, then she should be able to do it. It just matters that it’s something she wants.

What do you think? Would you be OK with your daughter working at a strip club to pay for college?
