Mom Makes Life-Size Yarn Replica of Son

There are some things you can’t unsee – like a life-size yarn replica of a teenage boy that I recently saw on The Stir.

Marieke Voorsluijs, a designer, knitter and mom in the Netherlands, decided to knit this replica of her son that you see in the image above.

You know how it is when your kids get older and stop wanting to hug and kiss you when you drop them off for school? Well, this mom found a solution to that feeling of sadness many parents feel from the rejection. She creating this yarn version of her son so she can hug him any time she wants.

From the looks of it, Voorsluijs is definitely unique. She co-owns a handmade shop called Club Geluk that consists of some cool knitted items like wine and cheese sets, champagne bottles and weird little creatures. Mom is clearly creative so it’s not surprising that she would knit something like this. She even notes that she wanted to set the bar a little higher by knitting this version of her son.

Still, it creeps me out. Look at all the pictures here.

The idea behind it is sweet – and apparently her son approves and even helped mom with it, The Stir notes, but I still find it odd. Where is she going to store that thing?

What do you think? Would you want a life-size replica of your child? Tell us in the comments section below.
