The Children's Place Removes Controversial T-shirt From Store Shelves

Shopping? Check. Music? Check. Dancing? Check. Math? Umm. "Well, nobody's perfect." At least that's what New Jersey-based clothing store The Children's Place implies about your daughter's scholastic accomplishments with its "Best Subjects" T-shirt. And that unchecked box next to math has caused quite a stir.

The purple tee was promptly pulled from store shelves after an outpouring of backlash from parents on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

"Congratulations for setting feminism back a few years. You should be ashamed by your apathetic attitude about such a blatant display of sexism," says Silentlady in a comment on an article from The Stir.

Still, some parents don't see anything wrong with the tee. Commenter Rod Heather on ABC News' website says, "Ohh good grief … As the father of 3 well educated girls (and 3 boys as well) I see absolutely nothing wrong with a shirt like that. It's just light hearted fun. We have become the United States of the Offended."

Speaking of the United States, it appears that we got a different form of this tee than Canada. Mom April Kendall posted a Facebook photo of The Children's Place shirt that she purchased in Canada. It is the same T-shirt except the box next to math is checked and there is no "Well, nobody's perfect" at the bottom.

Customers are unsure what to make of it – and so are we.

Amid all the controversy, The Children's Place took to its Facebook page to apologize to customers.

"We take feedback from our customers very seriously. It has come to our attention that some of you view our Best Subjects T-shirt as insensitive towards girls and women," the post says.

"This was not our intent. There are countless women in all walks of life who excel in math, including our very own CEO. We have pulled this product from our stores and we want to express our apologies to anyone we may have offended."
