Spa Experiences for Parents in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor

Parents in need of pampering are in luck, as there’s a relaxing and revitalizing spa offering just around the corner.

When the little ones have painted the walls one too many times or the new teenage driver comes back with a busted headlight, take time to realign with a spa session.

Try out a couples massage, infrared light sauna or an immersion soak to relax. If parents want to step it up a notch (by taking the temp down a notch), there’s also cryotherapy — a spa service that freezes the outer layer of skin using liquid nitrogen to reduce inflammation, swelling and pain.

Spa and wellness centers are abundant in the Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor areas. To find the best ones for parents, read on.

Bloom Wellness

This spa and wellness center features hot yoga as well as saunas. Couples can easily book packages for two, including a special Valentine’s Day session that includes detox oils with the sauna, float immersion and a couples toast.

Champagne Ghost Spa

The Champagne Ghost Spa offers spooky themed packages for men and women. Gentlemen’s packages include The Gomez or The Jack Skellington, which include offerings like deep tissue massage, facials and infrared light therapy. Or, try the seaweed body wrap dubbed the Mummy Wrap.

The Convent

This trendy new spot in Detroit is the sister to The Schvitz, the nearly 100-year-old Russian bathhouse. The Convent houses art and wellness professionals as well as Magdalene, a chic private room for two booked via Airbnb. Guests are able to book massages or healing sessions during their stay and one Schvitz pass is included for a limited time.

Cryospa Detroit

For adventurous couples tired of the standard facial and massages at spas, Cryospa offers safe, whole body exposure of the skin to temperatures of  -238º to -274 F for 3 minutes or less. Sessions are said to improve circulation and collagen, which can lead to a more toned appearance.

This ritzy spot located inside the MGM Grand Detroit has a range of spa services. Try the 50-minute couples massage that includes aromatherapy, or gift an expecting mother a prenatal massage.

Meta Physica Wellness Center

Parents can book a massage, craniosacral therapy, Arvigo abdominal therapy and private, full-spectrum infrared saunas. There are prenatal massages services for expecting mothers as well.

Couples looking for a classic Swedish massage (with the option to add hot stones during their session) should consider Woodhouse. There also a variety of signature facials and nail treatments to choose from.
