Building Character at YMCA Camp Ohiyesa

Through five core values, YMCA Camp Ohiyesa is helping campers ages 5-16 become the best versions of themselves while making memories that last a lifetime.

Honesty, Caring, Respect, Responsibility and Inclusion – these are the core values instilled in campers at YMCA Camp Ohiyesa, and, each summer, kids ages 5-16 get the chance to become the best version of themselves at this Holly-based camp.

Through day and overnight camp offerings, youth gain independence, build friend-making skills, challenge their limits, explore the natural world and build character – and they’ve been doing that since 1918, when YMCA Camp Ohiyesa was founded.

Campers get to experience the magic of summer camp while exploring the natural world and creating lifelong habits and healthy living skills – all in a judgment-free space, under the careful guidance of responsible staff.

YMCA Camp Ohiyesa takes pride in creating a balance between tradition and innovation – and that shows through its variety of options for campers.

Through a number of specialty camps, including Horseback Riding, Camp Chef, CSI, Survivor, Film Camp, World Records, Mad Scientist, Teen Leadership and more, YMCA Camp Ohiyesa allows children to explore their interests.

By providing campers with exciting outdoor adventures that assist them in building lifelong friendships and gaining self-confidence while trying new activities, YMCA Camp Ohiyesa also gives campers all the benefits of a traditional camping experience. After all, camp is all about getting the chance to explore your interests, build skills and relationships and come into your own – and here, that’s exactly what campers can do.

Each week of camp features a different theme such as Superheroes, Star Wars, Halloween Week, Olympics and more. Additional camp activities include a petting farm, waterslide, archery, ziplining, canoeing and more.

Located on the shores of Fish Lake in Holly, YMCA Camp Ohiyesa encompasses 300 rolling acres of forest, lakefront and fields – and the lush, natural setting on Fish Lake provides an ideal environment for youth to enjoy authentic outdoor camping.

Most sessions fill up by April – so don’t delay! Register for your child’s summer camp experience at ymcadetroit.org/ohiyesa.
