Try This Free Mental Health App From Oakland Community Health Network

The Teladoc Health app makes it easy to practice mindfulness and build emotional resilience — and it's free from Oakland Community Health Network.

Finding ways to take care of your mental health can be tough. Between work, family responsibilities and everything else on the calendar, it’s easy to push emotional wellness to the bottom of the list.

When you feel like you’re coming unglued — or even just stretched thinner than you’d like — the Teladoc mental health app can help you check in, find ideas for managing stress and take small steps toward feeling more grounded. And it’s available for free through Oakland Community Health Network.

What is Teladoc Health and who is it for?

Teladoc Health, formerly myStrength, is designed to fit into real life, and offers flexible, on-your-own-time support. When you have a few quiet minutes after the kids go to bed or need a quick breather in the pick-up line you can open the app and find short activities, mindfulness exercises or tips for coping with stress or parenting pressures.

The Teladoc app actually makes it easy to do something good for your emotional health, says Susan Stevens, RN, a nurse case manager at Oakland Community Health Network. And, it can be an important part of a self-care routine. “Even small things — like getting outside for a few minutes — can help tremendously,” she says.

How to access the Teladoc app through Oakland Community Health Network

Accessing Teladoc is simple and free:

If you previously had an account with myStrength, you will be prompted to sign in with your current email and password. You will then be directed to a transition screen and to review your information. A confirmation notification will then appear to note that the transition to Teladoc Health is complete.

Once you’re in, the app will ask a few simple questions to personalize your experience. From there, you can explore short activities, check in with your mood or browse wellness topics based on what you need in the moment.

And importantly — anyone can use the OAKLANDCHN code, even if they’re not currently receiving services from Oakland Community Health Network.

Why digital mental health tools matter for parents and families

Parenting often means being everything to everyone — caregiver, worker, teacher, advocate, chef — with little time left over for your own well-being. In the middle of a packed schedule, it can be hard to find even a few quiet minutes to check in with yourself.

Inside the app, you’ll find options that meet you where you are, such as:

  • Guided breathing exercises to help manage stress
  • Journaling prompts to explore emotions
  • Short videos about coping with anxiety or parenting stress
  • Tools for working through worry and building resilience

There are even programs created with parents in mind, offering support for postpartum adjustment, emotional well-being and everyday challenges that come with raising children.

No big-time commitment needed — just small, steady steps that fit into real life.

Final thoughts on using Teladoc to support mental wellness

Family life rarely slows down, and finding time for mental health can be tough. But small steps can make a difference.

Oakland Community Health Network offers the Teladoc app to make mental health resources more available. “It’s something extra that’s there when you need it,” Stevens says.

“If you wake up in the middle of the night and you’re upset, you can look at the app,” she says. “Maybe you can write down some things and reduce your mental load.”

The Teladoc mental health app offers an easy way to make that first small step. It’s private, flexible and always available — whether you’re having a tough moment, a busy day or just need a reminder to pause and breathe.
