Easy, Kid-Friendly Christmas Cookie Recipes

Cue the music for “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” from The Nutcracker – it’s time to talk sweets. Do you have a favorite kind of Christmas cookie that you make every year around the holidays? Maybe you have a cookie swap with friends – or you give out cookie plates as gifts to your kids’ teachers and neighbors. These recipes are easy so your kids can help with all the baking! That’s right, your kids can get creative by putting together marshmallow snowmen that are dunked in white chocolate or make a whole herd of reindeer cookies with pretzel antlers. These Christmas cookie recipes are so pretty – you’ll want to make plenty to give away. Just make sure to have enough to share with your family, too!

These no-bake treats are fun to make! Use caramel as the glue between large marshmallows. Add pretzel rods for arms – and candy for the mouth and eyes. That’s all you need to do to create these marshmallow snowmen from Better Homes and Gardens.

Peppermint Stick Cookies

Use food coloring in sugar cookie dough to create red and green batter. Then, twist the regular and colored dough together to make these peppermint stick cookies from Taste of Home. Dip the cooked cookie sticks into melted white chocolate and crushed peppermints to finish off the cookies. Mmm.

Reindeer Cookies

Shape a tube of pre-made gingerbread cookie dough into a triangle. Cut into individual triangles, then have your kids press a twisted pretzel into two of the triangle points for instant antlers! Add chocolate chips for eyes and a gum drop nose (red for Rudolph, of course). These simple reindeer cookies from Pillsbury are the ultimate kid creation!

Lollipop Cookies

Make a simple sugar cookie into something extraordinary with an easy addition – a lollipop stick! These cute lollipop cookies from Real Simple have so many possibilities. Your kids can frost them and then add sprinkles, jelly beans, crushed peppermint, or whatever else you have on hand.

Black Forest Cookies

Combine chocolate with chopped pecans and chewy cranberries to mix up these black forest cookies from Nestle’s The Very Best Baking blog. Cookie perfection – found!

Chocolate-Mint Cookies

Is there anything better than chocolate and creamy mint mixed together? What about chocolate cookies with marshmallow creme spiked with peppermint extract? Dip these chocolate-mint sandwich cookies from Food and Wine into chocolate for a final dose of indulgence.
