Hamburger Recipe Ideas for a Backyard Barbecue

Now that the weather is warming up, it’s the perfect time to get together with your family for a backyard barbecue. Why not try one of these homemade burger recipes to shake things up this year? You can keep it classic with old-fashioned cheeseburgers, but for something spicy, try the Poblano Chile barbecue burger. Keep it sweet with the Hawaiian honey burger. To really mix things up grill chicken burgers or bake up easy eggplant burgers. Along with burgers, you’ll want to load up your picnic table with an assortment of fresh green salads, potato salad, watermelon slices and cool lemonade.

Old-Fashioned Cheeseburgers

Channel classic grill flavors with these old-fashioned cheeseburgers from PBS. The recipe keeps things simple, flavoring the meat with salt and pepper. Butter the buns and toast under a broiler before putting the cooked patties on each one along with a slice of American cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce, thin-sliced tomato and pickle chips. Offer mustard and ketchup to the side.

Stir in a bowl with ground flaxseeds, grated cheddar cheese and chopped parsley. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes until it becomes more solid. Mold into patties and bake for 30 minutes.
