Make Your Own Dog Treats – VIDEO

The dog days of summer are here. So that got MetroParent.com DIY thinking. How about something special for your pup? After all, Fido can safely enjoy a taste of stuff your kids love, too – like applesauce and peanut butter. And they’re both ingredients you’ll find in the goodies at Bow Wow Bake Shoppe in Grosse Pointe Woods.

“I go for content,” says owner Lisa. “You want your treats to taste good” – and of course, she adds, be healthy for Spot. Her store’s menu is a balance of both. Like the Frosted Bone Cookies, with a yogurt coating. And Brownie Bites, which have bananas and honey. “Just like we would eat,” Bardy says, “minus the sweet, sweet stuff.”

Bardy was cool enough to share one of her simple canine cookie dog treat recipes with us. She and her niece, Marissa Gojcaj, teamed up to give us the how-to on how it’s done.

Don’t forget to get your canine cookie treat recipe – and, also, check out the special puppy party cake recipe, also courtesy of the Bow Wow Bake Shoppe!
