Shamrock Recipes for St. Patrick’s Day

Make your holiday a little luckier with these fun desserts for kids including cupcake recipes for kids, cake and more.

Next to leprechauns chasing a pot of gold, the next most popular symbol of St. Patrick’s Day has to be the shamrock. Vibrant green with three leaves, four if you’re really lucky, clovers are the decoration of choice on March 17. Don’t stop with paper clovers – make them into treats for your kids, too. For something that looks magical, try making the shamrock cutout pound cake, which has clovers tucked inside, or the shamrock cut-out cupcakes with a clover shape on top. Feed a crowd with the lucky shamrock cut-up cake. Use your kids’ favorite cereal to make shamrock Rice Krispies Treats. Three balls put together make chocolate dipped, clover-shaped cake pops. These clover treats will make for a memorable holiday celebration! Be sure to check out some other St. Patrick’s Day-themed recipes that are worth trying, too.

Shamrock Cutout Pound Cake

For a magical dessert, bake up this shamrock cutout pound cake from Taste of Home. First, bake up a batch of pound cake colored green with food dye. Once baked, cut into 1-inch slices and then use a shamrock cookie cutter to make several clovers. Place these carefully in the bottom of a loaf pan and pour over another batch of pound cake and bake.

Cake batter, muffin papers and marbles?! That’s what you’ll need to make these shamrock cupcakes from Be Different Act Normal. Add green food coloring to the cake batter and then pour into the muffin papers. Carefully add marbles on two sides of each filled muffin papers so that as the cupcakes bake they’ll rise into the perfect clovers.

Shamrock Cut-Out Cupcakes

These shamrock cut-out cupcakes from Glorious Treats take some time to put together but the results are impressive. Bake chocolate cupcakes and then cut the top off each one. Use a shamrock cookie cutter on the removed tops. Put green frosting on the top of each cupcake then place the cut-out top bake on. The finishing touch? Powdered sugar.
