1,001 Inventions: Untold Stories from the Golden Age of Innovation at the Michigan Science Center in Detroit

The Michigan Science Center hosts an award-winning exhibition to showcases human achievement during the Golden Age of Innovation, Oct. 7-Jan. 8, 2018.

Have you ever wondered where some of your favorite pieces of technology came from? Well, they likely evolved from an invention that came out of the Golden Age of Innovation.

During the period known as the “Dark Ages” in Europe, groundbreaking achievements were happening from Spain to China and the Michigan Science Center is showcasing some of those achievements during it’s newest exhibition, 1,001 Inventions: Untold Stories from a Golden Age of Innovation.

This award-winning exhibition, which opens at the Michigan Science Center on Saturday, Oct. 7 and remains open through Jan. 7, 2018, will showcase the inventions, and discoveries that happened between the fall of Rome and the rise of the renaissance.

It features more than 60 exhibits full of short films, live science shows, hands-on workshops and learning resources sure to get kids excited about STEM learning and educate them about how these revolutionary breakthroughs impact their everyday lives.

1,001 inventions: Untold Stories from a Golden Age of Innovations will be on display at the Michigan Science Center from Oct. 7-Jan. 7 and has special hours for the exhibit:

  • 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
  • 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday
  • 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday
  • noon-6 p.m. Sunday

Admission is $14 for adults, $11 for kids 12 and under and free for kids under 2.
