‘Inside Out’ Outdoor Gallery by the DIA

Who says awesome art is only in museums? In its Inside Out exhibit, the Detroit Institute of Arts is taking the greats to the streets – and southeast Michigan families all over – from June 1 till August 31, 2011.

The DIA is putting 80 artwork reproductions in public outdoor places in the cities of Brooklyn, Howell, Manchester, Milan, Livonia, Rochester, Novi, New Baltimore, Romeo, Sterling Heights and St. Clair Shores. Each will host a cluster of six to eight pieces, all within walking or biking distance. The idea is to lure parents and children to the DIA to see the real thing.

Three more three-month displays are in store, winding down in August 2012. Stay tuned: If they’re not in your hometown, they might be soon!
