Blake’s Big Apple

  • Address:  71485 North Ave., Armada
  • Cost: Individual Attractions: $20/haunted hayride, $26.95/zombie paintball, $19.95/three-story haunted barn, $17.95/spookyland; combo tickets are available

Spookyland is suitable for all ages and includes a straw mountain, petting farm, 3D maze, animated attractions, Halloween-themed movies and more. Parents should use their discretion and take their child’s scare tolerance into account before bringing them. Blake’s recommends ages 6-plus for zombie paintball and ages 8-plus for the haunted hayride and three-story haunted barn (their scariest attraction).

Bonadeo Farms

Find fall fun like hayrides, cider and doughnuts, pumpkin picking, a kids playground and corn maze during the day. At night, there’s a haunted house, hayrides, cider and doughnuts and more.

Deranged Haunt

This haunted trail is recommended for ages 13-plus. It’s five acres of frightening fun and offers brand new scenes this year.

Glenlore Trails

This haunted forest’s theme this year is Enchanted. Visitors will experience a spooky, illuminated trail with interactive games. Be sure to check the website to find out particular events happening all season long, including craft events, adult-only nights and trick-or-treating.

Hallowe’en in Greenfield Village

  • Address: 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn
  • Cost: $23-$30.75/members, $27-$36/non-member; 25% discount for kids 2-11, free/ages 23 months and under

Walk the illuminated jack-o’-lantern paths through Wonderland, Sleepy Hollow and other spooky worlds. There is a “spooky” Halloween train adventure on the Hallowe’en Express, fall treats, costumed characters and free carriage rides throughout the village. New this year, film screenings and an enhanced Town Hall experience.

Harvest Moon Hayrides at Upland Hills Farm

This hayride is perfect for those who don’t like scary attractions or those with little kids. Upland Hills Farm offers a 30-minute ride, with a hot or cold cup of cider and a fresh doughnut. After the trip, warm up by the bonfire. There will be additional food and beverage items available for purchase. Evening hayrides do not stop at the pumpkin patch. Guests are welcome to bring their own marshmallows and roasting sticks because they will not be provided.

Haunted Garage Productions

This local haunted garage gets voted one of the top haunted attractions every year. It was started by a retired gym teacher from Grosse Pointe Farms who wanted to show his eclectic Halloween collection off to the community. Since it began, he has donated his earnings to many PTOs in Grosse Pointe communities, St. Clair Shores and more. Great for all ages.

Rotten Manor

Boasts two full 35- to 45-minute attractions, Michigan’s largest and most realistic custom-built haunted Rotten Manor and Rotten Asylum/Forest. The Rotten Hayride takes you through the haunted woods of Rotten Manor. Rotten Manor has carnival-themed games and activities for the whole family to enjoy. The Rotten Theatre is a vintage theater that will show a variety of immersive horror themed performances. New in 2023 is House of Wax, which will consist of scenes from your favorite horror movies.

Scarefest Scream Park

  • Address: 34111 28 Mile Road, Lenox Township
  • Cost: $20/single attraction, $90/VIP wristband; some busier days you will have to purchase your tickets online; $5/parking (cash only)

Scarefest offers these major haunts this year: Castle of the Dead Haunted House, Forest of Darkness, Hayride of Doom and the Terror Maze Zone. The hayride is family-friendly, the forest and maze are mid-level scares and the haunted house has the most intense scares. The attractions are for children ages 7 and up. Children under 12 must have an adult with them in the attraction and children ages 16 and under must have an adult with them on the property. Other activities there include vendors, face painting, tea leaf readings, bar tent, DJ, 4D virtual reality ride and a nightly bonfire.

Terrorfied Forest

The haunted forest is recommended for ages 13 and older. The walk is just under a mile long at this non-touch haunt. The 30-45-minute walk is nearly a mile in the woods. For “timid” guests, it offers a “Monster Repellent” at the ticket booth. Test your problem-solving skills in the Jail Break Escape Room, where they challenge you to escape in five minutes. There is also a concession stand full of their very own doughnuts and other treats.

Pro tip: Purchase Monster Repellant for just $1. Hold it out to the scary creatures and they’ll back away, or even turn from scary to funny!

The Scream Machine

Check out their new location, which is double the size of the last. Only the brave should enter the halls of Vonks Asylum with Dr. Strach. It is described as “extremely scary” and parents should use their discretion when bringing their children. There is, however, “Monster Repellent” for sale for kids. This haunted house also features two optional escape rooms. It offers a lights-on experience on Oct. 22 for $10/person.
