'The Science of Rock 'n' Roll' Exhibit at the Michigan Science Center

How have science and technology influenced music and its evolution? Learn about this – and the emergence and history of rock 'n' roll – at The Science of Rock 'n' Roll exhibit, at the Michigan Science Center in Detroit June 20-Dec. 31, 2013.

This 10,000-square-foot traveling exhibition features interactive displays that reveal the technological background and building blocks of the awesome art we rock out to today.

Ever wondered how rock stars sound so awesome? See how their instruments work, learn about the coolest job in the world and participate in lessons with legendary tools of music making.

See how music and its earliest artists got their start and evolved to become a favorite all over the world – and witness why it has such incredible staying power.

Finish up the fun by recording your own remixes to today's most shreddable songs, made for sharing on social media!

See the exhibit during the following hours:

  • Monday-Friday: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Sunday: noon-6 p.m.

Note: The Michigan Science Center is closed on Thursday, July 4 and Monday, Sept. 2, 2013 (for the holidays). Hours of operation may change after Aug. 30, 2013.

Admission to the exhibit, which also includes general Michigan Science Center admission, is $19.95 for adults and $16.95 for ages 2-12.
