2011 Voyageur Encampment

Get details on the 2012 Voyageur Encampment at Lake St. Clair Metropark.

Take a step back in time at the 15th annual Voyageur Encampment at Metro Beach Metropark in Harrison Township. This two-day event – which happens on Aug. 27 and 28, a Saturday and Sunday – features reenactments of the voyageurs during the Great Lakes Fur Trade Era, which took place between 1620 and 1820.

Kids and parents will get a live history lesson, which includes more than just reenactments of Great Lakes settlers and Native Americans! You’ll witness blacksmithing, rope making and finger weaving demos, along with music, storytelling and arts and crafts. People of all ages will enjoy this fun and educational weekend.

The event is free; just add a $5 daily vehicle admission charge to enter this family friendly Metropark.

See the Metro Parent listing for more on the 2011 Voyageur Encampment.
