Art on the Grand in Downtown Farmington

A new Kids Art Alley means kids are the stars of this year’s Art on the Grand in Farmington on June 3-4, 2017.

Culture, self-expression and creativity fuel this new attraction, which features young, local artists talking about and selling their art. Plus, all kids can join in designing a community mural and enjoying a hands-on arts and crafts area.

As always, Art on the Grand also brings a variety of artists from around the country to downtown Farmington to show off their skills as well as interact with local guests and participate in collaborative art projects.

Artistic disciplines at this eighth annual celebration include painting, pottery, jewelry, photography, glass, wood and sculpture, among others.

There are several other artsy attractions for the kids to enjoy, too, including crafts, face painting, henna, sand art, airbrush tattoos, hair braiding/feathering/wrapping and more.

Additional fresh activities for the kids this year include a rock-climbing wall, a big trampoline kids can jump on in a bungee harness, a polar bear slide and several inflatables. Extra fees apply for these features; costs are $3 for one ticket or four tickets for $10.

Food here includes traditional fair snacks, such as Michigan fudge, roasted almonds, soft pretzels and hot dogs, to name just a sampling.

Art on the Grand is open on 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 3 and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, June 4.

Admission to the event is free on both Saturday and Sunday. Sponsors of this year’s fair include Waste Management, Chemical Bank and the Farmington Press.
