August Fairs and Festivals in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor

Summer is on its way out, but there's still tons of fun to be had in August 2022! Visit one or more of these great August fairs and festivals in metro Detroit and Ann Arbor.

The school year is creeping up really quickly, but there’s still tons of fun to be had this summer. In August, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties are packed with a variety of fairs and festivals full of games and rides, classic car shows and live entertainment for families to enjoy.

Put down the back-to-school to-do list and head out to one of these great Detroit festivals or Ann Arbor Fairs and get your last summer shindig in before school starts.

Shelby Township Art Fair

Aug. 13-14, 2022

Visit this annual fair in River Bends Park to see some of the best work by Michigan’s artists and crafters. There will also be food, musical entertainment, a kid’s craft area and more.

Armada Fair

Aug. 15-21, 2022

  • Address: Armada Fairgrounds, 74280 Fair St., Armada
  • Cost: $10/ages 13+, $5/ages 10-12, free/ages 9 and under; $5/daily parking, $25/weekly parking (cash only for parking)

This old-school fair offers everything from carnival rides and games to livestock displays, demolition derby, tractor pulls, rodeo, monster trucks and much more.

Assumption Greek Festival

Aug. 18-21, 2022

Celebrate Greek culture through food, music and dancing at this annual festival. There are special activities for the kids, too.

Warren Birthday Bash

Aug. 25-27, 2022

Happy birthday, Warren! Help the city celebrate at this annual bash, which features live concerts, food trucks, fireworks, beer tent, a carnival and more.

Slovak Festival

Aug. 26-28, 2022

Celebrate Slovak culture with ethnic food and dance performances, live music, a kids’ area full of fun activities and much more at this annual fest.

Milford Memories Summer Festival

Aug. 12-14, 2022

Families can enjoy a three-day art festival, live musical entertainment, sports tournaments, rock climbing tower, and more at this annual event.

Colonial Kensington

Aug. 13-14, 2022

Ever wonder what life was like before cell phones and running water? Kensington Metropark is taking you way back to the 1700s so that you can find out just how folks lived back then. Offers crafts and historic merchants, too.

Hippie Fest

Aug. 13-14, 2022

This festival is family-friendly and features live music, magicians, entertainment, Monster Truck show and rides for children and more. There will be lots of craft making, drink stations and shopping.

Michigan Dog Fest

Aug. 20-21, 2022

Bring your doggie out to this free fest at Canterbury Village. There will be plenty of vendors to shop at.

Michigan Renaissance Festival

Aug. 20-Oct. 2, 2022 (Saturdays and Sundays, plus Labor Day, Sept. 5 and Festival Friday, Sept. 30)

Fair maids and merry men take a step back to the 16th century for jousting tournaments, comedy and theater shows, music, games and “real” mythological creatures. Come in costume and enjoy.

Dragon on the Lake in Lake Orion

Aug. 25-28, 2022

The legend of the dragon spotted on Lake Orion in the 1800s inspires this annual event, which features must-see dragon boat races, a lighted boat parade, Kidz Zone, a merchant marketplace, live entertainment, and chalk art competitions all weekend long.

Michigan Made Fest 2022

This annual festival celebrates Michigan-made items including food, drinks and a shopping market. There will also be live music, magicians, a monster truck show and more.

Milan Music Festival

Aug. 2-6, 2022

Dexter Daze

Dearborn Homecoming Festival

Belle Isle Art Fair
