At any given time I have anywhere from two to three ready-made banner kits on hand in our craft closet. You never know when there might be something exciting to celebrate: a stellar report card, winning the big sports tournament or just because you feel like having fun. I keep my eyes on Stampin’ Up! as they’ve got lots of supplies to either make a banner right out of the package or make it one-of-a-kind thanks to your – or your children’s – DIY touches.
Two of my favorite banners are the Chalkboard Banner Kit and the Celebration Basics Kit. Why? On their own they’re great for just about any occasion, but can take just about any DIY add-ons. With pre-cut, ready-to-use pieces, these are projects that crafters of all ages can help with. Take a look.
Chalkboard Banner Kit
This kit comes with 15 banner pieces that have been coated with chalkboard paint and 32 cardstock pieces in a variety of bright colors.
With so many banner pieces you can easily create several banners at once for a layered effect. The chalkboard pieces are reusable, making this a smart craft investment.
The chalkboard kit also comes with five paper pom-poms that are ready to fluff for use. I like assigning the pom-pom creation to kids as a way to practice delicate craft handling. Too hard and you might rip it – just right and these pom-poms are ready to use.
Celebration Basics Kit
This kit comes with 15 kraft paper banner pieces and white letters that spell out “Celebrate.” Your children can glue the letters to the banner pieces with this kit to help with party planning. The kraft paper is perfect for mixing into most party color schemes.
In addition to the banner found in the kit, you receive coordinating treat bags, tags and name cards.
Stampin’ Up! offers coordinating add-on kits for the Celebration Basics Kit, adding pops of color as you see fit. Labels can be used on the gift bags, the long strand of circle garland looks great mixed with your kraft paper banner and a pack of colorful scrapbook paper can be added to your pennants for personalization and added color.
If you’re looking to up your party game for your family, keep a banner kit (or more than one!) in your craft stash for the next impromptu celebration.
