Vroom, vroom! Get your little ones packed up in your car and hit the road to Lake St. Clair Metropark for the 16th Annual Blast from the Past Car Show, which hits Harrison Township, June 9, 2013 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
It features 500 to 600 cars – including antiques, classics, muscles, street rods and low riders. Let your little hot-rod lover see his favorite Hot Wheels cars in life-size form – or how about a history lesson? Children will compare the antique or classic cars to the current tech-savvy family vehicle they rode in on the way to the show.
Need a break from checking out all the fabulous cars? Lake St. Clair Metropark offers lots of other fun activities for the whole family. Cool down in the swimming pool for $4 per person or let the little ones run through the Squirt Zone (it's free!). Have a little family competition at the adventure mini golf course; adults are $4, children 10 and under and seniors are $3. Trust us – there's a lot to do to keep the kids occupied!
Make a day of it and stay for the concert featuring the Mike Zelenak Band 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the Thomas S. Welsh Activity Center. The concert is free once you have purchased the daily entry pass to the park.
The fee for the event is $5 for a daily park pass, or if you plan to come back all summer, buy an annual entry permit for $25. The pass covers all the people in your vehicle.
