Breakfast with Santa at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak

Wildlife and Christmas come together for a delicious morning meal during Breakfast with Santa at the Detroit Zoo, happening in Royal Oak on Dec. 1, 8 and 15, 2012.

Kids and adults can share a buffet-style waffle breakfast with St. Nick at the Wildlife Interpretative Gallery. During the breakfast, Santa and some of his animal friends will come meet and interact with families. Also on the list of events will be holiday movies and arts and crafts. If you've been good this year, you might just get a special gift from Mr. Claus' toy bag!

Cameras are welcome, so don't forget to bring yours along for a photo opportunity with Santa and his costumed friends. Or, if you'd rather the whole family be in the photo, pictures by a professional photographer will be available for purchase.

Once you've had your fill of breakfast, stroll through the Detroit Zoo to see all of your favorite animals. Snow monkeys are a winter favorite – and you can catch them enjoying their outdoor hot tub in the cold December weather. Also out to see are the tigers, wolverines and red pandas that love playing in the colder weather. Plus, the zoo will be decorated with holiday trees for even more holiday cheer.

The event runs 8-10 a.m. Dec. 1, 8 and 15, 2012. Note that seating is limited and tickets are required for every child. Non-member prices are $30 for ages 15-plus and $25 for kids; if you're a zoo member, it's $25 for ages 15-plus and $20 for kids. Tickets include zoo admission and parking.
